Job summary

A leading packaging company in Malaysia is seeking a Production & Material Planner responsible for planning and coordinating production schedules. The ideal candidate must have at least 2 years of experience in material planning, preferably in the food packaging or plastic industry. Proficiency in Autocount and ERP systems is necessary. This role involves managing demand and inventory while ensuring timely availability of materials, with a focus on compliance with food safety standards.

Job description

The Production & Material Planner is responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring production schedules and material availability to ensure efficient manufacturing operations. This role balances demand, inventory, and capacity to meet customer requirements while minimizing costs and delays.

Job Responsibilities

Plan, create work order, schedule raw materials (e.g., PET resin, PP resin, additives, inks, cartons) based on production forecasts, sales orders, and inventory levels.

Ensure timely availability of raw materials, components, and packaging to prevent stockouts or overstocking.

Provide schedule plan to production department.

Monitor customer demand, stock levels, perform regular inventory reconciliations, and ensure optimal inventory turns.

Minimize obsolete and expired inventory through active material lifecycle tracking.

Issue purchase requisitions or work closely with purchasing to ensure on‑time purchase and delivery of materials.

Collaborate with production and QA teams to ensure material specifications match process and quality requirements.

Respond to urgent changes in material needs due to order changes, machine breakdowns, or customer rescheduling.

Ensure all materials used comply with food safety and regulatory standards (e.g., ISO 22000. FSSC 22000).

Support audits and documentation related to planning department.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree/ Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, administration, Engineering, or related field.

Minimum 2 years of experience in material planning or supply chain in manufacturing environment, preferably in food packaging or plastic industry.

Experience in food packaging or plastic manufacturing will be preferred.

Knowledge of plastic materials (PET, PP, OPS) and auxiliary materials in extrusion/ thermoforming processes will be added advantage.

Knowledge in inventory management and production & capacity planning.

Proficiency in Autocount and ERP systems.

Good analytical, organizational and communication skills.

Able to work in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
