The Product Lead – Strategic & Innovative Initiatives is responsible for leading the discovery, design, and delivery of high-impact, forward-looking products and capabilities for the Bank. This role focuses on initiatives that extend the Bank beyond traditional channels, including Embedded Banking / Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS), ecosystem integrations, platform-based distribution, and emerging digital capabilities.
The role operates at the intersection of strategy, product execution, technology, and governance, ensuring innovative initiatives are translated into scalable, compliant, and customer-centric solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Discovery
- Define and own the product vision and roadmap for strategic and innovative initiatives, including Embedded Banking / BaaS capabilities.
- Identify opportunities arising from ecosystem partnerships, platform distribution models, and evolving customer needs.
- Lead problem discovery, solution framing, and prioritisation of initiatives aligned with the Bank’s strategic objectives.
Embedded Banking / BaaS Enablement
- Lead the design and rollout of Embedded Banking / BaaS capabilities, enabling the Bank’s products and services to be offered through partner platforms and non-traditional channels.
- Define product capabilities such as account access, payments, onboarding, authentication, transaction initiation, and servicing, delivered via APIs or embedded experiences.
- Establish product principles for scalability, security, reliability, and customer experience across embedded use cases.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to align on operating models, commercial structures, and customer ownership considerations.
Product Design & Delivery
- Translate strategic initiatives into clear product requirements, MVPs, and phased rollouts.
- Own end-to-end delivery from concept through launch, stabilisation, and continuous improvement.
- Partner closely with engineering, architecture, and design teams to ensure solutions are robust, reusable, and extensible.
Platform & Ecosystem Enablement
- Drive initiatives that enable the Bank to participate in broader digital ecosystems, including partnerships with platforms, merchants, and service providers.
- Ensure seamless and consistent customer journeys across bank-owned and partner-owned channels.
- Support partner onboarding by defining product standards, documentation, and integration requirements.
Governance, Risk & Compliance Alignment
- Collaborate with Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Technology teams to ensure Embedded Banking / BaaS and other initiatives meet regulatory, security, and internal policy requirements.
- Support preparation of management, committee, and regulatory materials, including risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
- Ensure appropriate governance controls are embedded across design, deployment, and post-launch operations.
Stakeholder & Delivery Management
- Act as the single point of product ownership for cross-functional delivery involving Product, Technology, Operations, and external partners.
- Manage dependencies, trade-offs, and delivery risks across multiple initiatives.
- Provide clear, structured updates to senior management and governance forums.
Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Define and track success metrics for Embedded Banking / BaaS and other strategic initiatives.
- Use data, feedback, and operational insights to optimise products post-launch.
- Identify reusable capabilities and patterns to accelerate future initiatives.
Job Requirements & Criteria
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline. A postgraduate qualification (e.g. MBA or relevant Master’s degree) is an advantage.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in product management, with demonstrated ownership of complex digital or platform-based products in banking, fintech, or regulated environments.
- Proven track record of end-to-end product delivery, from problem discovery through launch and post-implementation optimisation, within fast-paced or agile settings.
- Strong understanding of regulated financial services environments, including risk, compliance, and governance considerations relevant to digital banking or payment products.
- Solid grounding in digital product design principles, including customer journey design and usability best practices across multiple channels.
- Highly analytical and structured thinker, with a data-driven approach to product prioritisation, trade-offs, and decision-making.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders.
- Hands-on experience working in agile delivery models, and familiarity with common product management and delivery tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence or equivalent).
