Job summary

A leading recruitment agency is seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager in Kuala Lumpur to lead procurement activities for high-rise construction projects. The ideal candidate will manage vendor relationships, implement cost-saving strategies, and ensure timely delivery of materials. A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and extensive procurement experience in construction are required. Excellent negotiation and communication skills are essential.

About the company:

Our client is a well-established main contractor with a strong portfolio in high‑rise residential and commercial developments. As part of their ongoing growth, they are looking for an experienced Purchasing Manager to lead procurement activities across multiple high‑rise projects.

About the Role

You will be responsible for managing end‑to‑end purchasing functions, including sourcing, negotiation, vendor management, and cost control for construction materials and services.

Key responsibilities:
  • Lead procurement for high‑rise construction projects (structural & architectural materials).
  • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships.
  • Work closely with project, QS, and contract teams to ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Implement cost‑saving strategies and maintain budget control.
  • Monitor and improve procurement processes.

The successful candidate will be reporting to the General Manager and managing a few purchasing executive.

Skills & Experience Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Business Administration, or equivalent.
  • Excellent procurement experience, with strong exposure to the construction industry.
  • Solid understanding of construction materials, supplier market, and project requirements.
  • Proven negotiation skills with a strong network and relationships across key suppliers and vendors.
  • Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and stakeholder management abilities.
