A manufacturing company in Malaysia is seeking a Procurement Manager to develop and execute procurement strategies tailored to project needs. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience in procurement, with a strong leadership background, and proven expertise in managing large-scale projects. Responsibilities include sourcing, vendor management, and compliance with industry standards. The role requires excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Develop and execute procurement strategies tailored to project needs, ensuring alignment with budgets and timelines.
Oversee the sourcing and purchasing of raw materials, machinery, and services from reliable suppliers and subcontractors.
Leverage bulk purchasing opportunities and negotiate contracts.
Build and maintain a robust network of subcontractors in every state to ensure project requirements are met promptly.
Establish strong relationships with suppliers to secure competitive pricing and consistent supply.
Pre-qualify and onboard vendors based on quality, cost, and delivery capabilities.
Conduct periodic reviews of suppliers to ensure compliance with agreements and performance expectations.
Work closely with relevant HOD and departments to forecast material and service requirements.
Ensure timely delivery of materials to avoid delays.
Manage risks related to supply chain disruptions, price fluctuations, and contractor non-compliance.
Ensure procurement activities comply with industry regulations, safety standards and company policies.
Implement risk mitigation strategies to address issues such as fluctuating material costs, supply shortages, and vendor defaults.
Lead and mentor a team of procurement professionals, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Provide training on best practices in procurement and supply chain management.
Set clear KPIs for the team and track progress toward achieving organizational goals.
Implement procurement systems and ERP platforms to improve efficiency and transparency.
Utilize digital tools for vendor management, contract tracking, and real-time analytics.
Continuously evaluate and enhance procurement processes to maximize cost savings and operational efficiency.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum 10 years of experience in procurement, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within the manufacturing industry.
Proven expertise in managing procurement for large-scale projects.
Established network of domestic and international vendors.
In-depth knowledge of preparing and reviewing contracts, invoicing, and negotiation terms.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel).
Multi-tasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
