Process Control & Modelling Engineer (Oil & Gas)

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Process Control & Modelling Engineer to support and enhance process automation, modelling, and control capabilities across oil & gas operations. The ideal candidate will have 7–8 years of relevant industry experience, strong technical expertise in advanced control systems and process simulation, and the ability to collaborate effectively with operations, engineering, and digital teams.
This role is critical in optimizing production performance, improving process reliability, and supporting digital transformation initiatives across upstream, midstream, and downstream assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of process control strategies for oil & gas production and refining facilities.
- Develop, validate, and maintain dynamic process models to support operational decision‑making, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
- Implement Advanced Process Control (APC) and Model Predictive Control (MPC) solutions to improve throughput, energy efficiency, and product quality.
- Collaborate with operations, instrumentation, and IT teams to integrate DCS, PLC, and SCADA systems with enterprise and data platforms.
- Support digital twin, smart manufacturing, and Industry 4.0 initiatives to drive operational excellence.
- Conduct root cause analysis, process hazard analysis (PHA), and risk assessments to ensure safe and reliable operations.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards such as ISA‑95, ISA‑88, IEC 62443, and internal OT cybersecurity policies.
- Evaluate new technologies and vendors, recommending best‑fit solutions for process control and modelling applications.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation including functional specifications, control narratives, system architectures, and validation documents.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to ongoing technical capability development within the team.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 7–8 years of hands‑on experience in process control, process modelling, or industrial automation within the oil & gas industry.
- Strong proficiency in process simulation and optimization tools such as Aspen DMC, Aspen ROMeo, Honeywell UniSim, or AVEVA Process Simulation.
- Practical experience with DCS/PLC systems (e.g., Honeywell, Emerson, Yokogawa, ABB) and SCADA/HMI platforms.
- Solid understanding of process safety, alarm management, and OT cybersecurity best practices.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively in cross‑functional and multicultural teams.
