Precision Mechanical Fitter Specialist

STINIS Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a Precision Mechanical Fitter Specialist to join our team. This role is crucial in designing, assembling, and testing dependable products that support the company’s growth and upcoming projects.

Responsibilities
  • Perform precision fitting, alignment, and assembly of mechanical components for container spreaders, lifting frames, and specialized port handling equipment.
  • Interpret engineering blueprints, CAD drawings, and GD&T specifications to ensure accurate assembly and dimensional tolerances.
  • Conduct precision measurement, marking out, and alignment using advanced metrology tools.
  • Execute hydraulic and pneumatic fitting works, including pipe bending, hose installation, valve fitting, and leak testing.
  • Assemble and fit gearboxes, bearings, shafts, couplings, and structural frames with high accuracy.
  • Align hoisting, locking, and latching mechanisms on container spreaders.
  • Troubleshoot and rectify mechanical fitting issues during build, repair, and overhaul.
  • Support prototype builds, trial assemblies, and product testing for new designs and custom orders.
  • Conduct mechanical functional testing (load, cycle, and endurance tests) on fitted assemblies.
  • Ensure compliance with international standards (ISO, OSHA, FEM, DIN, BS).
  • Work with tight-tolerance machining and fabricated components, applying shimming, scraping, and precision adjustment techniques.
  • Fit and calibrate hydraulic cylinders, locking pins, and load-sensing devices.
  • Perform on-site fitting, adjustment, and retrofitting at ports, shipyards, or client facilities.
  • Collaborate with design engineers, providing feedback on assembly challenges.
  • Execute precision drilling, tapping, reaming, and hand-fitting where required.
  • Assemble electro‑mechanical interfaces, ensuring compatibility of mechanical and electrical components.
  • Apply torque specifications precisely using torque wrenches and hydraulic tensioners.
  • Assist in failure root‑cause analysis (RCA) for mechanical issues.
  • Inspect incoming fabricated, cast, and machined parts for compliance with drawings.
  • Follow precision fitting work instructions, SOPs, and work orders diligently.
  • Maintain safety standards in all mechanical fitting, lifting, and assembly operations.
  • Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on spreaders and container handling equipment.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in precision mechanical fitting.
  • Possess at least a relevant technical certificate.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and CAD models.
  • Well‑versed in root‑cause analysis techniques.
