Job summary

An industrial gas company is seeking an operations technician for the safe and efficient daily management of cryogenic air separation plants and related systems. The candidate must possess an STPM or diploma in Engineering with at least 2 years of relevant experience. Responsibilities include maintaining operations, monitoring product purity, and ensuring safety compliance. The role requires a willingness to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including weekends and public holidays, making it crucial for the candidate to be adaptable and safety-focused.

Job description
Purpose

This position is responsible primarily for the safe, efficient hands‑on day‑to‑day operation of cryogenic air separation plants, hydrogen steam methane reforming plants and pipeline network including process plant control, production rate/product mix adjustments, gas pipeline delivery systems, and product quality assurance.

Responsibilities
  • To be responsible for smooth operations of ASU/Gen Gas plant, PHGs, supply backups and pipeline network.
  • To record plant equipment reading and control room reading. Report and escape if there is any abnormality and take appropriate corrective action as required.
  • To start‑up and shutdown plant as and when required.
  • Act as safety work permit issuer for any work planned at sites.
  • To monitor all product purity at storage tanks and in process.
  • To analyze & verify cooling water treatment and escalate to superior for further action if not meeting specifications.
  • Ensure all calibration gases are available and within expiry date.
  • Perform monthly plant process analyzer calibration per PM schedule.
  • To assist in PM or any other maintenance jobs as and when required.
  • Assist in month end pipeline closing at customer stations.
  • To comply with all work instruction and ISO9001 procedures.
  • Support site operations activities aligned to AP’s standard or relevant applicable standards (i.e., ISO audits, AP Corporate EHS audits, customer audits, etc).
  • Support site general activities, inclusive but not limited to site security activities and other compliances requirement (i.e., drills with the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia, etc).
  • To ensure all safety requirements are adhered to at sites.
  • To ensure proper housekeeping in all plant areas.
  • Support other tasks, projects and responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time.
Minimum Requirements and Qualifications
  • STPM/Diploma in Engineering.
  • Minimum 2 years in plant operation, production technician or manufacturing environment, preferably in Gas, Chemical, Semicon facility.
  • Basic MS Windows and Office.

Willing to work 12-hour rotating shifts (morning and night), 5 days a week including weekends and public holidays.
