Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site PhD position with a Graduate Research Assistantship (GRA) at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, located in Perak, Malaysia. The selected candidate will engage in design, modeling, simulation and analysis of power-electronic traction inverter systems in electric mobility/ EV powertrain, with application of Artificial Intelligence (Reinforcement Learning).

The candidate shall prepare technical reports, develop innovative solutions, and contribute to scholarly publications. Close collaboration with faculty and research teams is central to successfully accomplishing project objectives. The role includes opportunities for presenting research findings at conferences and contributing to the university’s research and development efforts.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, with prior research experience


• Passion in electric transportation, EV, E-Mobility, electric/ hybrid propluson systems


• Strong skills in Matlab-Similulink, PLECS and other dynamic simulation softwares


• Proficiency in academic writing, technical reporting, and publication of research findings


• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage research timelines effectively


• Experience in using research tools, software and methodologies specific to power converter/ inverter in electric mobility/ propusions systems


• Experience in presenting research outcomes at academic or professional conferences is an advantage
