Job summary

A healthcare group is seeking a qualified Medical Laboratory Technologist in Selama, Malaysia. You will be responsible for receiving and analyzing various bodily fluids and ensure the correctness of test results while adhering to safety protocols. Ideal candidates should possess a degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or Biomedical Sciences, should have good communication skills, and be fluent in both English and Bahasa Malaysia. Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology / Biomedical Sciences.
  • Valid annual practicing certificate where applicable.
  • Understanding of staining techniques and culture methods.
  • Basic knowledge of various fields of specialty in laboratory work.
  • Good command in English and Bahasa Malaysia.

Responsibilities

  • Receive blood, urine, stool, and other bodily fluids for lab analysis.
  • Perform calibration procedures and analyze Quality Control values.

  • Maintain records and files of the laboratory.
  • Participate in training for new employees.

Job description
Responsibilities
  1. Receive blood, urine, stool, tissue or other bodily fluids for lab analysis
  2. Collect blood samples from patients, observe principles of aseptic technique to obtain blood sample.
  3. Perform calibration procedures, and analyze and verify the acceptability of Quality Control values prior to analyzing patient samples.
  4. Determine the acceptability of and prepare patient samples for analysis.
  5. Perform various biochemical, haematology, microscopic and bacteriologic tests to obtain data.
  6. Analyze patient samples and evaluate the reliability of test results according to age, gender and specimen acceptability criteria prior to releasing information for use in patient care and treatment.
  7. Perform and document routine maintenance of department equipment's and call for maintenance and repair of equipment.
  8. Place orders for reagents and supplies by maintaining optimal stock without excessive inventory.
  9. Record laboratory tests results and may engage in research and technical activities.
  10. Transcribe materials, file and maintain all pathology and clinical laboratory files.
  11. Capable of processing, typing, testing and storing blood.
  12. Attend meetings as required and participate in respective meetings and seminars as directed.
  13. Assist to prepare written documentation and file as required by the profession.
  14. Maintain department's records, reports and files as required.
  15. Participate in assigned proficiency surveys, performance improvement activities and mandatory continuing education programs.
  16. Participate in training and orientation of new employee and relevant others including technical guidance.
  17. Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

18. Follow safety protocols and guidelines to prevent contamination and exposure to chemicals.

Education and Requirements
  • Degree or Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology / Biomedical Sciences.
  • Valid annual practicing certificate where applicable.
  • Understand staining techniques, culture methods, sterilization methods and techniques.
  • Has a basic knowledge of various fields of specialty of laboratory work.
  • Have good command in both English and Bahasa Malaysia (written and spoken).
