We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will support the CAD team with backchecking, CAD vault management, and the Base Design Kit, while also providing parallel design support to the Penang NPI Digital Team.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical components and sub-systems.
• Proficient in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Sustain engineering mechanical designs for existing products.
• Responsible for BOM generation.
• Work with electrical engineers in the development of PCB assemblies that have mechanical interaction, specify keep-out areas, determine component interference, and generate PCB outline drawings in Pro/Engineer and files to communicate with Allegro.
• Create component CAD geometry footprints with required dimensions from drawings based on vendor component data sheets.
• Create component electrical symbols for use by Electrical Engineers for schematic generation.
• Ensure that component Schematic symbols and CAD footprints are created to Cohu standards.

Our Ideal Candidate

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5 years in CAD Experience with 3D modeling software (Pro–e or Solid Works).
• Experience with a PCB E-CAD tools (Cadence Allegro, Mentor, OrCAD, PADS, etc.).
• Basic electronic knowledge including component types, characteristics, and the ability to read and understand schematic interconnections.
• Ability to read and understand component vendor data sheets and specifications.
• Must be proficient in English both oral and written.
