An engineering firm located in Penang, Malaysia is seeking a Design Engineer to translate customer requirements into design specifications and solve complex problems in collaboration with manufacturing and suppliers. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronic, or Manufacturing Engineering and proficiency in Solidworks. Responsibilities include maintaining technical documentation, performing calculations, and creating innovative design solutions. Applicants should have strong communication skills and be willing to travel overseas for projects.
Translate customer's requirements into design specification, evaluate design feasibility and provide technical expertise to meet customer's requirements.
Establish design objectives for specific projects, perform detailed calculation and develop innovative and creative design for various difficult and complex project features.
Design systems and components that meet needs and requirements.
Discuss and solve complex problems with manufacturing departments, sub-contractors, suppliers and customers.
Create and maintain drawings with CAD system
Create and maintain part lists (BOM), provide BOM and BOM changes to El team
Create and maintain technical documentation
Alter and modify design to meet requirements and to eliminate malfunctions.
Identify, formulate and produce effective solutions to emerging problems.
Using research, analytical, conceptual and planning skills, particularly mathematical modeling and computer-aided design.
To comply with all requirements of ISO (inclusive of all standards approved by the Management) and to adhere to general safety practices, standard operating procedure, work instructions, policies.
Other duties and assignments as instructed by superiors from time to time.
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronic or Manufacturing Engineer; or 2 to 4 years or more of related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledgeable in first article, project management and engineering standard operation procedure.
Knowledgeable in technical skill in Bill of Material (BOM), Technical Product Documents (TPD), Engineering Change Notice (ECN), Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) & Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
Familiarity with 2D and 3D engineering design and manufacturing tools.
Efficient in using Solidworks & Siemens NX 9Required) and other 3D tools (e.g.Creo or others) will be additional advantages.
Solid understanding of core concepts including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science etc.
Creativity, problem solving and analytical skills.
Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills in English language.
Self-independent, initiative , and able to work under pressire.
Willing to travel overseas for project transfer.
