Job summary

A leading professional services firm in Kuala Lumpur is seeking an experienced professional with a minimum of five years of relevant work experience. The ideal candidate should hold a degree in Accounting, Economics, or Finance, and possess strong analytical, writing, and communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a good command of English are required, while knowledge of Mandarin is a plus. This role will involve managing audits and providing guidance to clients, ensuring compliance with standards and enhancing business processes.

Job description
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide guidance and expertise to professional staff and conduct assurance services, focusing on complex and specialised issues, including audits, controls reviews, remediation projects, and assistance with regulatory compliance.
  • Manage more complex audit engagements, particularly when the firm is the group auditor with component auditors from other member firms or overseas audit firms.
  • Proactively undertake certain practice management roles, such as business development unit, technical training, ethics and independence, InTrust, data analytics, human capital, staff welfare, etc.
  • Conduct timely performance reviews and provide performance feedback/training. Develop technical expertise – both functional and industry.
  • Understand the client’s industry, key performance drivers, business trends, and emerging technical and industry developments.
  • Plan engagement objectives to ensure compliance with professional standards and appropriately address risk.
  • Maintain relationships with other engagement teams and monitor team progress against plan and drive performance as required.
  • Share knowledge and experience on technical issues with colleagues.
  • Develop and maintain a productive working relationship with client personnel.
  • Identify areas requiring improvement in the client’s business processes and provide possible recommendations and draft the management letter for the client.
REQUIREMENTS
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience in a professional services environment.
  • Degree major in Accounting, Economics, Finance or a professional accounting qualification.
  • Preferably a member of MIA/MICPA/CPA Australia/ACCA/ICAEW or equivalents.
  • Possess analytical and writing skills, and a good understanding of commercial and business dynamics.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Good command of spoken and written English. Ability to speak and read Mandarin will be an advantage.
  • Good analytical, communication and people management skills with a positive working attitude.
  • Self‑motivated and able to work independently.
