Oversee Strategic Sourcing and Procurement
The incumbent reports to Senior Management and is responsible for the strategic development of sourcing and material project planning, including new program management.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Core focus on sourcing for Research and innovation which includes materials, sub-contractors, equipment, processes, solutions and design.
- Plan and manage the company’s supply portfolio and sourcing strategy, negotiate with suppliers to achieve long-term benefit in terms of quality, cost, and delivery.
- Drive Materials Project Management for New Product Introduction and Program Management for NPD.
- Drive continuous improvement, best value and quality improvements within the team and departments, challenge existing practices and seek ways to achieve better outcomes, ensuring key performance and financial targets are met and corrective action taken where necessary.
- Leverage resources across all boundaries to support business goals and safeguard against contractual and commercial risk.
- Report to the Management and respective committees as required, providing up-to-date status reports on procurement, including development, demonstrating value for money and compliance to regulatory procurement requirements.
- Develop excellent and effective collaborative relationships with key stakeholders and external providers and other agencies to ensure strategic and operational needs are fully understood and incorporated.
- Identify and address procurement training needs for the group of businesses, establishing and managing future demand and capacity planning, including the development of supplier risk management.
- Promote importance of procurement within the group and best practice through continuous improvement.
- Act as the principal conduit for formal communications with external companies during the procurement process.
- Facilitate the development of relationships with existing and potential suppliers.
- Work closely with R&D, R&I, and operations to identify gaps/opportunities as part of continuous improvement efforts; support R&D/Product Development on component and material selection.
- Uphold and observe corporate governance and compliance to promote awareness and transparency.
- Any other ad-hoc projects assigned by immediate reporting.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Degree in Supply Chain Management.
- At least 7 years proven work experience at similar capacity in procurement, sourcing, managing an international/global sourcing or category management team.
- Preferably working experience in manufacturing, electrical, mechanical or electro‑mechanical industries.
- Meticulous, systematic, organized, proactive, with a good understanding of sourcing dynamics and sound business judgement; independent leader.
- Experience sourcing vendors in particular areas of Electronics Manufacturing Services, Electrical, Mechanical, Raw material and Chemical is a plus.
