Based in Kuching and reporting to the Head of Corporate Services, you will be responsible for assisting with all legal and compliance aspects of the Group’s business operation and all statutory requirements as provided by the Act.

The following duties are not exclusive and certain items require delegation in whole or in part to be adequately fulfilled.

Assist in drafting of various correspondence, contracts and legal instruments for the Group.

Assist in the preparation of legal documents for contracts, mortgages, shareholder agreements, stock options and employee benefits plan.

Assist the management to assess risk in negotiating as well as undertaking/signing business contracts.

Liaising with external solicitors appointed to handle particular legal matters for the Group.

Assist the management in conducting feasibility studies for new business, specifically from the legal point of view.

Establish, implement, operate and monitor the Compliance Programme for NAIM.

Inculcate compliance culture among staff of all business units, operations and support functions via provision of training, communication and counselling as part of Compliance Programme.

Conduct periodic review on the compliance level among staff in terms of all the relevant laws, regulations, guidelines, policies and procedures.

Analyze the findings resulted from the review conducted in order to work out possible recommendations together with the related Head of Division/Department.

Timely reporting of review findings, establishment of the Compliance Programme and updates on the changes to the laws and regulatory requirements relevant to our business to the Compliance Committee.

Monitor and evaluate compliance breaches and provide proper counselling and/or issue non-compliance tickets to the relevant staff while keeping track of the improvement made.

Recommend appropriate policies to ensure NAIM’s on-going compliance with all the latest laws and regulations for the approval of the Compliance Committee

Qualifications:
  • A law degree from a recognized institution.
  • Admitted to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.
  • 5 years of experience in a legal role, with 5 years in a managerial capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of the construction and property industry.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally.
