Job description

To drive data-informed decision-making across the Marketing and cross-functional teams by transforming customer, category, store, and campaign data into actionable insights. This role supports the company’s growth to optimize portfolio performance, strengthen customer engagement, and improve campaign effectiveness, and guide strategic planning through accurate analysis, performance tracking, and insight-driven recommendations.

Key Responsibilities
Store Performance Analysis
  • Monitor and report on store performance by key metrics (sales, traffic, basket size), along with region-, cluster-, and format-specific insights; and drill by BU/category.
  • Conduct regular periodic analysis (WoW, MoM, YoY) to highlight performing and underperforming stores and identify root causes (category mix, customer mix, execution gaps).
  • Support Operations with store clustering and localized promotional opportunities.
Category Insights & Optimization
  • Analyze category-level performance by key metrics (sales, margin, velocity, and customer buying patterns) to identify performing and underperforming category/segment.
  • Evaluate category performance across regions, store formats, and customer segments to support assortment optimization (cross-sell, bundle, assortment gaps) and strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate with Business Units (BUs) and Commercial teams to refine assortment strategies, promotional plans, pricing decisions, and space allocation insights/recommendations.
Customer & Membership Insights
  • Segment and analyze customers by activity levels (active, inactive) and behavioural patterns, comparing member vs. non-member performance to guide marketing strategy.
  • Identify high-value members and support the design of data-driven loyalty and engagement strategies.
  • Assess effectiveness of customer acquisition in terms of activation, retention, and reactivation funnels.
Campaign Planning, Execution & Evaluations
  • Measure the impact of campaigns on traffic uplift, member engagement, and sales contribution.
  • Support Marketing Strategy for campaign targeting, creative and mechanic directions.
  • Conduct pre- and post-mortem analysis and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Assist in budgeting insights on government-related programs.
  • Produce and deliver timely, accurate reports and insights to Marketing, and cross-functional teams (Operations, Business Units, Commercials), and Management with clear narratives with actionable recommendations to support data-driven decision-making and guide long-term planning.
  • Maintain documentation such as data dictionaries, metric definitions, and reporting standards.
  • Partner closely with IT and MarTech to support the build of automated dashboards (inclusive of automated threshold-based alerts) and enhance data pipelines, ensure data consistency, and improve automation capability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to interpret insights, validate findings, and co-drive action plans that improve store performance, category growth, customer engagement, and campaign effectiveness.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Analytics, Statistics, Economics, or a related field.
Required Experience
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience with retail data and analysis (POS, loyalty, category mix, campaign performance).
  • Strong command in Excel and capable of designing automated reports.
  • Experience working with large datasets, CRM systems, and BI tools (PowerBI, Tableau, etc).
  • Understanding of MarTech platforms and campaign tracking (added advantage).
Key Technical & Functional Skills
  • Strong presentation skills with clear narratives, insights and recommendations.
  • Data analysis and visualization (Excel, PowerBI/Tableau, PowerPoint).
  • SQL knowledge is a strong plus.
  • Knowledge in statistical modeling (regression, clustering).
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
  • Attention to detail and high data accuracy.
  • Effective cross-functional communication.

Location: Currently office based Kelana Business Centre, Petaling Jaya (near to Glenmarie LRT station). Moving to Wisma Segi office at Kampung Melayu Subang, Shah Alam Q3-Q4 2026.
