Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
  • Define the department’s vision and align it with the organization’s financial goals.
  • Develop long-term strategies to optimize cash flow and minimize bad debt.
  • Lead initiatives to improve collection efficiency and customer experience.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, compliance, and continuous improvement within the team.
Policy and Process Development
  • Establish and update credit collection policies in compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
  • Design standardized processes for debt recovery, escalation, and dispute resolution.
  • Implement risk assessment frameworks to identify and manage high-risk accounts.
  • Ensure policies balance financial recovery with maintaining positive client relationships.
Performance Monitoring
  • Set KPIs such as collection rates, aging analysis, and recovery timelines.
  • Monitor team performance and provide coaching or corrective actions as needed.
  • Use analytics and reporting tools to track trends and identify areas for improvement.
Stakeholder Reporting
  • Prepare regular reports for senior management on collection performance, outstanding receivables, and risk exposure.
  • Communicate insights and recommendations for improving credit policies and cash flow.
  • Collaborate with finance, sales, and legal teams to resolve complex cases.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors or regulatory bodies regarding credit collection matters.
Customer Assistance & Restructuring
  • Design and manage restructuring or hardship programs.
  • Lead and supervise team members responsible for handling inbound calls from distressed customers.
  • Oversee the team in offering payment solutions, including payment plans and deferments.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory and internal policies.
  • Monitor call quality, agent behavior, and customer treatment.
  • Onboard new hires and conduct regular upskilling and compliance training.
Requirements
  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in any field.
  • Minimum 10 years and above in debt collection industry with a minimum of 5 years in a managerial or similar leadership role.
  • Proven experience leading and managing a collection team.
  • Good understanding of Hire Purchase (HP) concepts, processes, regulations, and customer lifecycle.
  • Strong background in managing and coordinating with outsourced collection vendors.
