A leading retail company is seeking a Manager for their Grocery Division in Malaysia. This role requires overseeing item maintenance in SAP systems and negotiating with suppliers. Candidates must have at least 5 years of experience in the retail or wholesale industry, along with strong communication and negotiation skills. The position is office-based in Kelana Jaya, with future relocation planned. Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia is essential, and knowledge of Mandarin is a plus.
Responsible for overseeing item maintenance in SAP and ARMS systems, including cost pricing, product descriptions, barcodes, and selling prices. This role involves negotiating promotional mechanisms such as mailers, events, and in store promotions, as well as ensuring timely submission and accuracy of buying income files. The position also includes reviewing sales and margin reports to align with category KPIs, verifying scan sales reports for other income purposes, checking and confirming mailer artwork, and proposing action plans for items with negative margins.
Key Responsibilities:
To coordinate buying, promotional & merchandising activities for Grocery Division and follow through on timely inward and outward deliveries.
To negotiate with local and international suppliers on price, quantity, quality and trading terms to meet the Company's objective.
To develop action plan and recommendation to reduce store's disposal.
To compile information from all stores and analyze customer's purchasing behavior and market trend.
To monitor suppliers' delivery performance.
To ensure optimum stock level for all stores are maintained.
To keep abreast of market competition, product price and trends, and provide feedback to the Management
Any other related tasks assigned by management as and when is needed.
Key Requirements:
Candidate must possess at least a Diploma OR Bachelor's Degree in Business Studies / Administration / Management, Marketing or equivalent.
At least 5 year(s) of working experience in the Retail Supermarket/Wholesales & Trade industry.
Possess with good attitude, communication and negotiation skills.
Abundance of contacts with vendors / suppliers of various product categories will be advantageous.
Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia in both verbal and written skills. Ability in Mandarin is advantageous.
Applicants must be willing to work in Kelana Jaya and willing to travel as when required.
Preferably Executives & Managers specializing in Sales - Retail/General or equivalent
Currently office based Kelana Jaya, Petaling Jaya (near to Glenmarie LRT station)
Moving to Wisma Segi office at Kampung Melayu Subang, Shah Alam Q3-Q4 2026.
