Overview

The Analytical Laboratory Manager is responsible for the overall administration, technical oversight, and operational management of the analytical laboratory. This role ensures that all analyses are conducted in accordance with established quality standards, regulatory requirements, and internal procedures. The incumbent will supervise daily laboratory operations, review analytical outputs, maintain functional readiness of analytical instruments, and drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on accuracy, efficiency, and cost performance.

Responsibilities
  • Operational Management: Oversee and coordinate daily laboratory activities to ensure timely and accurate completion of analytical work.
  • Monitor workflow, resource utilization, and prioritization of laboratory tasks to support operational objectives.
  • Technical Oversight: Review, interpret, and approve analytical data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Maintain and enforce calibration schedules, analytical methods, and quality protocols.
  • Ensure proper operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments with emphasis on ICP-OES systems.
  • Quality and Compliance: Ensure adherence to internal quality policies, safety requirements, and relevant regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintain documentation, records, and audit readiness in accordance with applicable standards.
  • Initiate and lead continuous improvement projects to enhance laboratory efficiency, analytical accuracy, and cost effectiveness.
  • Evaluate current practices and implement process optimizations aligned with organizational goals.
  • Provide supervision, coaching, and technical guidance to laboratory personnel.
  • Support competency development, performance management, and team engagement.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related discipline is required.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in operating and maintaining ICP-OES instrumentation.
  • Strong knowledge of analytical procedures, calibration methodologies, and laboratory quality systems.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop technical teams.
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) is considered an advantage.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
