A leading educational institution in Malaysia seeks a Manager for Alumni Engagement & Events. This role requires designing and delivering alumni programmes and signature events to strengthen community ties. The Manager - Alumni Engagement & Events plays a strategic and executional role in shaping, delivering, and scaling meaningful alumni engagement initiatives and signature events across the Sunway ecosystem. This role acts as a central connector between alumni, students, industry partners, faculties, and Sunway Group entities—strengthening Sunway’s position as a future‑ready, mission‑driven university anchored in values of excellence and service.
Design and implement alumni engagement programmes aligned with Sunway University’s lifelong learning, employability, and alumni engagement strategy.
Develop targeted approaches for diverse alumni segments, including emerging graduates, mid‑career professionals, senior industry leaders, and global alumni communities.
Create pathways for alumni contribution, such as coaching, internships, employability support, guest lectures, and advocacy.
Support alumni participation in flagship initiatives such as Success X‑Factor Coaching, and other employability‑focused programmes.
Collaborate with faculties and schools to co‑design and deliver initiatives that enhance employability and alumni involvement.
Plan and deliver signature alumni events, ensuring clear objectives and measurable impact.
Curate purpose‑driven experiences that reflect Sunway’s brand and standards.
Work cross‑functionally to integrate academic, employability, industry engagement, and alumni goals within event design.
Manage and coordinate end‑to‑end event operations, including timelines, budgets, vendors, logistics, and risk management.
Partner with internal units to ensure cohesive alumni engagement delivery and leverage the broader Sunway ecosystem, senior executives, and industry partners to expand alumni opportunities and experiences.
Serve as the primary liaison with alumni chapters, alumni leaders, and volunteers locally and internationally, strengthening governance, communication, and engagement consistency.
Support the effective use of alumni databases and CRM systems, to track engagement and outcomes.
Oversee the implementation and maintenance of the Alumni Platform; monitor participation, feedback, and engagement metrics to inform continuous improvement.
Update dashboards and provide reports and insights on alumni engagement, employability, and reputation building.
Work closely with Marketing & Communications to ensure alumni initiatives and events are consistently branded and aligned with Sunway University’s identity and positioning.
Support alumni storytelling and recognition that foster pride and belonging.
Ensure a smooth and meaningful alumni experience across all physical and digital touchpoints.
Bachelor’s degree in Event Management, Communications, Marketing, Business, Education, or a related discipline (postgraduate qualification is an advantage).
Minimum 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in alumni relations, stakeholder engagement, event management, or community development (experience in higher education strongly preferred).
Demonstrated experience managing complex, multi‑stakeholder events and engagement programmes end‑to‑end.
Proven ability to work effectively with senior leaders, industry partners, alumni volunteers, and diverse internal teams.
Strong strategic thinking combined with excellent project and event management capabilities.
High‑level stakeholder engagement, relationship‑building, and communication skills.
Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Data‑informed mindset with the ability to translate insights into programme improvement.
Collaborative, proactive, and adaptable approach within a fast‑paced environment.
