Job Description – Maintenance Technician and Handyman

Department: Building Maintenance
Reports to: Head of Building Maintenance

A. General Maintenance & Repair

Perform routine preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical systems.

Attend to repair requests promptly – including lighting, sockets, leaks, door hinges, locks, and general fixtures.

Carry out small‑scale renovation, painting, decoration setup, and touch‑up works when needed.

Conduct regular inspection of facilities to identify maintenance needs before they become major issues.

B. Facility Upkeep & Support

Assist in setting up rooms, halls, and function areas for internal and external events including audio‑video equipment.

Ensure furniture, fittings, and equipment are properly arranged and in working condition.

Support other departments (Hostel, Admin, etc) by providing on‑site repair or maintenance assistance when requested.

C. Safety & Compliance

Follow safety procedures and use appropriate tools and PPE during work.

Report immediately any safety hazards, faulty wiring, or unsafe equipment.

Assist in maintaining fire safety systems and participate in emergency maintenance when required.

D. Equipment & Tools Management

Maintain tools and equipment in good working order.

Record usage and notify supervisor when repairs, servicing, or replacements are needed.

E. Carpark Equipment & Autopay Machines
  • Check daily operation of carpark entry/exit barriers, ticket dispensers, and autopay machines.
  • Perform minor troubleshooting, resetting, and basic servicing (e.g., note acceptor cleaning, printer paper replacement).
  • Report any major malfunction or recurring issue to the Head of Building Maintenance and coordinate with the appointed contractor for repairs.
  • Record and update machine condition and service activities in the maintenance log.
  • Assist in monitoring the overall cleanliness, safety, and functionality of the carpark area.
F. Record & Reporting

Log all maintenance and repair activities in the maintenance record book or reporting system.

Assist in monitoring utilities (water, electricity) and report abnormalities to the Head of Building Maintenance.

G. Working Relationship

Work closely with the Building Maintenance team, Security, Front Desk, and other internal departments.

Coordinate with external contractors when necessary (under supervision).
