Our client is a leading construction and engineering firm. In Malaysia, they are undertaking high‑rise, commercial, industrial and mixed‑use developments with strict Japanese standards. They are now seeking an experienced M&E Engineer or M&E Manager to lead and manage Mechanical & Electrical works across assigned projects. You will oversee the planning, coordination, execution and commissioning of M&E systems, working closely with consultants, subcontractors and the project team.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage all M&E discipline works for the project (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire protection, mechanical ventilation, etc).
- Plan, coordinate and supervise installation, integration and commissioning of M&E systems in compliance with design intent, local regulations and quality standards.
- Review, approve and manage detailed M&E drawings, shop drawings, layout and revisions.
- Liaise and coordinate with consultants, architects, structural engineers, clients and subcontractors to resolve interface issues.
- Monitor and enforce quality control, safety and compliance on all site M&E works.
- Conduct regular site inspections, review progress, raise issues or non‑conformities and drive corrective actions.
- Prepare technical reports, progress reports, meeting minutes and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage schedule, resource planning and coordination of subcontractors and vendor works.
- Lead testing and commissioning, performance validation, handover and defect rectification.
- During tender and design phases, provide technical input, cost estimation, value engineering and constructability review.
Job Requirements:
- Diploma/Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum 5 to 10 years’ experience in M&E engineering work in building construction (for Manager role, more than 8 years preferred).
- Strong track record of leading M&E works in medium to large scale projects (commercial, industrial, high‑rise).
- Proficient in AutoCAD or other equivalent BIM tools or other engineering software.
- Sound technical knowledge of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and related systems.
- Good understanding of local codes and statutory requirements (e.g. Bomba, local authorities).
- Experience in Japanese project environment or exposure to Japanese standards (an advantage).
- Willingness to travel site and relocate if needed.
