Responsibilities

• Follow all federal, state, and local driving laws.
• Ensure cargo is secured and safe during transit.
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients.
• Report any accidents or delivery issues promptly.
• Perform basic vehicle maintenance as needed.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Transport Goods: Drive long or short distances to deliver cargo safely and on time.
• Route Planning: Plan and follow efficient routes, considering traffic, road conditions, and delivery schedules.
• Vehicle Inspection: Perform daily inspections before and after trips to ensure vehicle roadworthy.
• Loading/Unloading: Assist with loading and unloading cargo, ensuring proper handling to avoid damage.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery records, inspection reports, and fuel usage for compliance with local regulations.
• Safety & Compliance:
  • Follow all federal, state, and local driving laws, including weight limits, rest periods (HOS regulations), and safety procedures.
  • Cargo Security: Ensure cargo properly secured and safe during transit.
  • Emergency Handling: Respond to road emergencies or mechanical issues appropriately.
• Communication:
  • Customer Interaction: Communicate with dispatchers, clients, and warehouse staff regarding deliveries and pickup details.
  • Reporting Issues: Report any accidents, delays, mechanical problems, or delivery issues promptly.
• Maintenance:
  • Basic Maintenance: Check and refill fluids, inspect tires, brakes, lights, and report serious mechanical issues to fleet maintenance teams.
