Job summary

A leading electronics company in Penang is seeking a logistics team member to develop and execute logistics strategies. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with Malaysia's import/export regulations, monitor shipment activities, and establish reporting procedures. Candidates should have a degree in Supply Chain/Logistics Management and at least 5 years of experience in the logistics field, preferably within the electronics industry. Proficiency in MS Office and fluency in English and Malaysian are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant working experience in logistics, preferably in the electronics industry.
• Fluency in English and Malaysian; knowledge of Chinese (Mandarin) is an advantage.

Job description

As a logistics team member to develop, drive and execute the logistics strategy. Control logistics cost and improve the logistics operation & process to meet customer needs and company direction.

International Regulations & Trade Compliance

Oversee to make sure shipments compiled with Malaysia import/export regulation and customs requirements and provide guidance to the stakeholders compliance

Provide support to internal parties identifying and monitoring regulatory changes affecting customs requirements in the country and translate changes into operational procedure

Understand and provide guidance to internal parties on the anticipated impacts of shipping/logistics related to international trade

Raise the awareness of internal parties and stakeholders on the risk and responsibilities of INCOTERMS

Shipping & Transportation

Monitor and keep track the activity of shipments with logistics providers to ensure delivery/receiving arrangements smoothly executed, meet ISO and customer requirement & SOX compliance

Engage with internal / external parties to resolve logistics obstacles or exception events to ensure safe and timely shipping of goods/materials

Establish and implement workflow / standard operation procedures to effectively carrying out scheduling/shipping practices

Support supervisor to manage forwarders’ KPI review and Monitor and ensure shipping guidelines requirements are fully complied and followed

Conduct Request for Quotation (RFQ) and negotiate freight quotes with services providers to improve on saving transportation expenditure

Systems & Logistics Application

Establish a timely and effective reporting procedure of various logistics management reports and conduct other operational analysis

Collaborate with other departments to integrate logistics with business systems or processes, such as customer, sales, order management, accounting, or shipping.

Contract Management

Liaise with logistics providers/suppliers to ensure pricing and services as negotiated are aligned with the needs of business

Organize and maintain the contract/ agreement documents and submit to Legal for revision

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• At least 5 years relevant working experience in logistics field, in electronic industry is preferable
• Proficiency in MS Office, including WORD, EXCEL (including function) and PowerPoint
• Speaking and writing fluently in English and Malaysian, can speaking in Chinese (Mandarin) is advantage
• Independent, fast learner and able to work under pressure
• Familiarity with logistics, including shipping, transportation, warehousing and 3PL management in manufacturing company is advantage

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION

• University Degree or above Supply Chain / Logistics Management or related discipline
