This role involves acting as the primary legal advisor to management on corporate, commercial, and operational matters, while ensuring compliance with laws. Job description

Line Recruits – Bandar Baru Bangi, Selangor

Act as the primary legal advisor to Management on corporate, commercial, employment, and operational matters.

Identify legal risks across operations and develop mitigation strategies aligned with business objectives.

Interpret and advise on changes in laws and regulations affecting the food & beverage, catering, and facilities management sectors.

Contract Management

Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a wide range of contracts including:

  • Client service agreements (corporate, government-linked, and camp-site operators)
  • Vendor, supplier, and procurement contracts
  • Lease, tenancy, and facilities-related agreements
  • NDAs, MOUs, and partnership agreements

Ensure contracts are commercially sound, compliant, and aligned with company risk appetite.

Maintain a central contract management system and monitor key contractual obligations.

Employment & Industrial Relations

Advise HR and Management on Malaysian employment laws, industrial relations, and labor compliance.

Support disciplinary actions, domestic inquiries, terminations, and employee grievances.

Handle matters related to large workforce management (900+ headcount), including compliance with EA 1955, IR Act, SOCSO, EPF, and foreign worker regulations (where applicable).

Regulatory & Compliance

Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations including:

  • Food safety, hygiene, and halal-related regulations
  • Licensing requirements for catering and camp-site operations

Liaise with regulatory bodies, government agencies, and external counsel when required.

Support internal audits, compliance reviews, and policy development.

Manage disputes, claims, and potential litigation involving clients, vendors, employees, or authorities.

Coordinate with external lawyers on litigation, arbitration, or mediation matters.

Oversee legal costs and ensure effective case management.

Corporate Governance & Secretarial Support

Support corporate governance matters, board resolutions, and management papers.

Work closely with company secretaries on statutory filings and compliance.

Assist in mergers, acquisitions, restructuring, or expansion projects where applicable.

Policy & Training

Develop and update internal legal policies, SOPs, and compliance frameworks.

Conduct basic legal awareness and compliance training for management and operational teams.

Requirements

Bachelor of Laws (LLB). Qualified Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya or related fields.

Minimum 5-8 years of relevant legal experience, either in-house or in legal practice.

Experience handling employment law, commercial contracts, and regulatory compliance.

Prior exposure to F&B, catering, facilities management, or labour-intensive industries is highly advantageous.

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Ability to balance legal compliance with operational realities.
