Job summary

A property development company is seeking a Legal Assistant to support its Director/Principal with legal and administrative responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Law and at least one year of experience in a similar role. Responsibilities include drafting legal documents, managing correspondence, and liaising with external stakeholders. Strong communication skills and the ability to handle confidential information are essential. This position is based in Puchong, Selangor, Malaysia.

Qualifications

  • Minimum one year of experience as a legal executive or assistant is preferred, fresh graduates may apply.
  • Sound understanding of contract law and construction legal matters is necessary.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct personal and professional support to the Director/Principal, including management of correspondence, scheduling, and handling of confidential matters.
  • Draft, review, and assist in the negotiation of legal documents, agreements, and correspondence, particularly in relation to construction and project-related matters.
  • Assist in the preparation, organisation, and maintenance of legal, corporate, and contractual documents, ensuring proper records management and version control.
  • Liaise and coordinate with external legal counsel, consultants, government authorities, and internal stakeholders on legal, regulatory, and administrative matters.
  • Monitor compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and contractual obligations, and flag key legal, regulatory, or commercial issues for management’s attention.
  • Assist with the preparation, submission, and filing of documents, applications, and statutory filings with relevant authorities, where required.
  • Conduct legal and regulatory research, and prepare summaries, briefs, or notes to support management’s review and decision-making.
  • Perform ad-hoc duties, follow-ups, and special assignments as may be directed by management from time to time.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB) or an equivalent legal qualification.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience as a legal executive, legal assistant, or personal assistant with legal exposure; fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong drafting skills, with the ability to produce clear, accurate, and well-structured legal and business documents.
  • Sound understanding of contract law and construction legal matters, with a practical and solution-oriented approach.
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks and priorities independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated professionalism and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with senior management, external counsel, and key stakeholders.
  • Proactive, reliable, and able to work under pressure while meeting tight deadlines.
