Job summary

A corporate firm in Puchong, Malaysia is looking for a qualified Legal Counsel to oversee all legal and compliance matters. Responsibilities include providing legal advice, managing risks, supporting contract negotiations, and developing compliance policies. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law, possesses over 5 years of relevant experience, and is proficient in Mandarin, Bahasa Malaysia, and English. Job description

Responsible to all legal and compliance matters for the Company.

Provide sound legal advice and opinions to safeguard the Company’s interests in all business operations.

Formulate, implement, and manage legal policies, frameworks, and processes across corporate, commercial, compliance, and litigation areas, including matters arising from business operations.

Support contract negotiations to mitigate legal and commercial risks.

Advise, coordinate, and participate in strategic planning and new business initiatives.

Manage and minimize legal risks by guiding senior management on various legal issues.

Develop and implement company-wide policies, conduct audits, and manage investigations to ensure compliance.

Monitor legislative developments, assess their impact on the business, and assist in implementing necessary changes.

Undertake any other tasks or assignments as directed by superiors.

Job Requirements

Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Law or equivalent qualification. Holding a Bar Council certification.

Minimum 5 years of experience as a Legal Counsel or Legal Manager in a corporate environment, or work as a lawyer in a law firm is an added advantage.

Strong knowledge of corporate law, company procedures, and regulatory compliance.

Well-versed in the Companies Act 2016, Malaysian Code on Corporate Governance, Securities Commission guidelines, and Employment Laws.

Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of critical thinking; able to work independently under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a proactive work attitude.

Proficient in written and spoken Mandarin, Bahasa Malaysia, and English to effectively communicate with our diverse client base and stakeholders.
