Job description
Role Overview

This role serves as the Group Lead for Enrichment & Safeguarding for the Global Enrichment Programme (GEP) and the wider EDUC8 Group. The postholder is responsible for setting, embedding and maintaining consistently high safeguarding standards across all Group enrichment activity, including school trips, camps, expeditions, academies-linked programmes, and partner‑delivered experiences under the EDUC8/GEP umbrella.

This is a highly operational, hands‑on role. The postholder will govern standards and assurance, and take ownership of the delivery of key elements of Group enrichment programmes – working directly with trip leaders, camp directors, operations and teaching teams to drive safe, seamless execution.

EDUC8 and GEP operate with the ambition and momentum of a fast‑growing education start‑up. This role is ideal for high‑calibre teachers or school‑based leaders who want a broader, more commercial and operational perspective in education.

At Epsom College Malaysia, the postholder will serve as Educational Visits Coordinator (EVC) and will also develop and conduct the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) programme, ensuring outstanding student experience underpinned by rigorous safeguarding and strong operational planning.

The role may also, from time to time, include teaching on GEP programmes, particularly where this strengthens quality and delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Group Safeguarding Standards & Governance
    1. Develop, own and implement Group‑wide safeguarding frameworks covering all enrichment activity delivered by Epsom, GEP and related academies/programmes.
    2. Establish clear minimum operating standards for safeguarding, supervision, conduct and student welfare across all programmes.
    3. Ensure safeguarding expectations are aligned to relevant regulations and international best practice.
    4. Maintain clear escalation pathways, thresholds and decision‑making protocols across all Group enrichment activities.
  • Operational Ownership of Enrichment Delivery
    1. Take direct ownership for planning and delivery of specific enrichment components (e.g., flagship camps, new programme launches, high‑risk or high‑profile trips, partner school experiences).
    2. Provide hands‑on support to programme teams to ensure smooth delivery and consistent standards.
    3. Ensure welfare planning is embedded from programme concept through to on‑the‑ground execution.
  • Trips, Camps, Expeditions & Enrichment Oversight
    1. Oversee the safeguarding and welfare dimension of Epsom school trips and experiential learning, GEP holiday camps and flagship programmes, academy‑linked programmes where applicable, third‑party/partner school programmes delivered by GEP or using EDUC8 infrastructure.
    2. Maintain consistent workflows, templates and documentation to simplify safe delivery for school and GEP staff.
    3. Own and quality‑assure risk assessment standards and approval processes across all Group enrichment activities.
    4. Ensure risk assessments are practical, evidence‑based and matched with realistic mitigations.
    5. Ensure robust emergency planning, including medical response, missing student procedures, travel disruption and crisis communications.
  • EVC and DofE Role at Epsom College Malaysia
    1. Serve as EVC for Epsom College Malaysia, ensuring educational visits are planned, approved and executed in line with required standards and Group expectations.
    2. Lead the development and delivery of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) programme at Epsom College Malaysia, ensuring strong safeguarding, high‑quality student experience, and alignment with broader Group enrichment standards.
  • Safeguarding Quality Assurance
    1. Conduct routine safeguarding reviews across GEP camps, Epsom trips and academy‑linked programmes.
    2. Lead post‑programme safeguarding debriefs and drive follow‑through on action items.
    3. Track recurring risks, operational gaps and near misses and implement improvements.
  • Brand Confidence & Business Development Support
    1. Support GEP growth by positioning EDUC8’s safeguarding standards as a premium differentiator in partner school discussions.
    2. Contribute to proposals and partner engagements from a student welfare and risk perspective.
    3. Where appropriate, participate in parent/partner assurance conversations.
Person Specification
  • Experience in safeguarding leadership within a school, youth, camp or enrichment context.
  • Demonstrable track record of building and enforcing risk assessment and safeguarding frameworks.
  • Experience supporting or overseeing trips, camps, expeditions or large‑scale enrichment programmes.
  • Strong operational judgement and the confidence to challenge decisions that compromise welfare or safety.
  • Excellent communication skills across senior leaders, frontline staff, parents and partners.
  • Ability to work across multiple entities and drive alignment without heavy bureaucracy.
Preferred
  • PGCE and/or ability to teach EAL and step into occasional GEP teaching delivery when required;
  • EVC training or equivalent educational visits oversight experience;
  • Experience spanning both school‑based and commercial enrichment/camp environments;
  • Familiarity with international school expectations and multi‑country programme delivery; and/or
  • Exposure to sport, outdoor education or high‑performance academy environments.
