Job Summary: The Junior Production Support Engineer will be responsible for maintaining and supporting mainframe‑based Core & Cards applications in the Service Recovery domain. The role involves monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving both batch and online issues, ensuring system stability and availability. The candidate will work on incident management, problem resolution, and abend handling in a mission‑critical environment, supporting financial services operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide L2 production support for mainframe applications running on zOS/zVM.
  • Monitor and resolve batch and online issues, ensuring timely recovery of services.
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolve incidents/problems within SLA timelines.
  • Manage batch jobs, including abend handling (e.g., S0C7 issues).
  • Debug and troubleshoot using tools such as Abend-Aid and Xpediter.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure smooth operations and compliance with standards.
  • Document incident resolutions, operational procedures, and recovery steps.
Required Skills
  • Strong knowledge of Cobol and JCL.
  • Hands‑on experience with VSAM and DB2 databases.
  • Proficiency in CICS for online transaction support.
  • Solid understanding of zOS / zVM operating systems.
  • Experience in batch management and abend resolution.
  • Familiarity with debugging tools: Abend-Aid and Xpediter.
  • Prior production support experience on mainframe systems.
Nice‑to‑Have Skills
  • Exposure to financial services or highly secured environments.
  • Knowledge of audit processes, encryption, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience in performance tuning of batch and online processes.
  • Familiarity with automation or scripting for operational efficiency.
