Job summary

A local childcare center in George Town is seeking a passionate Early Childhood Educator to implement holistic, play-based learning experiences for infants and toddlers. The successful candidate will have a strong foundation in child development and be adept at facilitating a nurturing environment that encourages exploration. Qualifications

  • Professional Certificate or higher in Early Childhood Education or related fields.

Job description
Required Qualifications
  • Professional Certificate, Diploma, Advanced / Higher / Graduate Diploma, Degree, or Advanced Degree in Early Childhood Education, Paediatric Nursing, Child Development, or a related field.
  • Experience working with infants, toddlers (3 months–3 years), or kindergarten-aged children (4–6 years) in a licensed childcare, nursery, or kindergarten setting is preferred.
  • Fresh graduates in Early Childhood Education or related fields are encouraged to apply (training and mentoring will be provided).
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong understanding of child development milestones from birth to 6 years.
  • Knowledge of safe sleep, feeding, diapering, hygiene, and health practices for infants and toddlers.
  • Ability to prepare milk, manage feeding schedules, and maintain accurate daily care and learning records.
  • Able to engage children in age-appropriate sensory, motor, language, and play-based learning experiences.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and nurturing environment in accordance with TASKA, JKM, and health regulations.
  • Able to identify early signs of illness or developmental concerns and report promptly to supervisors and parents.
  • Calm and responsible in handling emergencies or unexpected situations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, adaptable to change, and able to pivot when challenges arise.
  • Critical observer and reflective thinker who brings fresh perspectives, ideas, and intuitive solutions.
  • Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia; Mandarin proficiency is an added advantage.
Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement play-based, hands-on learning experiences that support children’s holistic development in line with Kurikulum Asuhan dan Permata (KAP), KP2026, and Funscape’s philosophy.
  • Design age-appropriate activities that promote sensory exploration, curiosity, communication, motor development, and social-emotional skills.
  • Support early language and literacy development through storytelling, songs, rhymes, sound awareness, role play, and meaningful conversations (including Jolly Phonics where appropriate).
  • Introduce early numeracy concepts through playful counting, sorting, patterning, and problem-solving experiences.
  • Facilitate creative exploration through art, music, movement, dramatic play, and sensory-rich activities.
  • Plan and implement individual and group activities that build confidence, collaboration, and independence.
  • Observe, document, and assess children’s learning and developmental milestones to inform future planning.
  • Create and maintain a safe, clean, nurturing, and stimulating environment that encourages exploration and active learning.
  • Set up and maintain learning spaces, materials, sensory areas, and learning corners according to KAP play-based zone guidelines.
  • Ensure a balanced daily routine that includes structured and unstructured play, indoor and outdoor experiences.
  • Support children’s daily care routines, including feeding, napping, diapering, toileting, hygiene, and transitions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of children’s routines, observations, and learning documentation.
  • Follow strict health, hygiene, safety, and emergency procedures.
