As an R&D Chemist / Engineer, you will play a key role in developing and improving high-performance materials for the electronics and industrial sectors. This position involves hands‑on laboratory work, process design, product formulation, and close collaboration with cross‑functional teams to transform innovative concepts into scalable, market‑ready solutions. You will contribute to Penchem’s strategic growth by driving research initiatives that strengthen product quality, sustainability, and customer satisfaction.

What you will be doing

• Design and conduct laboratory experiments for formulation development, process improvement, material evaluation, and application validation.
• Research and review technical information to support innovation and new product development activities.
• Analyze test results, prepare detailed technical reports, and present findings to management and project teams.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including Technical Data Sheets (TDS), Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and Bills of Materials (BOM).
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality assurance, marketing, and sales teams to align R&D projects with business objectives and customer requirements.
• Support process scale‑up and technology transfer from laboratory to production, ensuring consistency and process reliability.
• Provide technical support to customers, including troubleshooting, product qualification, and on‑site assistance.
• Monitor advancements in materials, technologies, and industry regulations relevant to adhesives and advanced materials.
• Ensure adherence to quality, safety, and environmental standards in all R&D activities.

What we are looking for

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, Applied Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related discipline.
• 1–5 years of relevant experience in R&D, preferably within the adhesives, polymers, electronics, or chemical manufacturing industries.
• Practical experience with analytical and characterization techniques such as TMA, DMA, DSC, TGA, thermal conductivity, electrical resistivity, and FTIR. Experience with root cause analysis and experimental design is highly desirable.
• Good communication skills in Mandarin, English, Malay Language.
• Proficiency in Mandarin (spoken and written) is an added advantage, as the role may involve communication with Mandarin‑speaking customers, particularly from China.
