Job summary

A manufacturing company based in Kepong seeks a skilled Mold Maker or Mold Technician. The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of hands-on experience in mold fabrication and repair, proficiency in CAD/CAM software, and advanced machining tools like CNC mills and lathes. Responsibilities include creating new molds from engineering drawings, performing maintenance on molds, and troubleshooting production issues. Knowledge of welding (TIG/MIG) is essential for this role.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in operating advanced machining tools such as CNC mills, lathes, and grinders.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings.

Job description
Responsibilities
  • Fabricate new mold including components, inserts, and fixtures with high precision based on engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Modify existing molds to support product design changes, performance improvements, or material adjustments.
  • Perform/support scheduled preventive maintenance, cleaning, and necessary repairs on production molds (compression, transfer, and injection).
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mold-related issues (e.g., flash, short shots, sticking) during production.
  • Execute precision welding and assembly techniques to repair damaged molds.
  • Operate and program conventional and CNC machinery, including lathes, milling machines, and surface grinders, to create or repair mold parts.
  • Utilize welding equipment (e.g., TIG, MIG) for mold repair and modification.
  • Ensure all tooling and molds are manufactured and maintained to tight tolerances.
  • Perform highly skilled mold and tooling polishing to achieve specified surface finishes required for optimal part release and aesthetic quality.
  • Use appropriate equipment and techniques (manual and automated) to address drag marks, pitting, and imperfections on critical molding surfaces.
  • Read, interpret, and work from complex blueprints, schematics, and 3D CAD models.
  • Use CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Mastercam) for mold design review, modification planning, and generating CNC tool paths.
  • Maintain accurate records of mold history, maintenance performed, and spare parts.
Job Requirements
  • Minimum SPMV/Diploma or equivalent; technical certification or Associate’s degree in Mold Making, Machining Technology.
  • Proficient in CAD/CAM software.
  • Proficient in operating advanced machining tools such as CNC mills, lathes, and grinders.
  • Good skills in welding (TIG/MIG) for tool and die/mold repair applications.
  • Strong understanding of dimensional tolerances and the use of precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, height gauges).
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • 3–5 years of hands‑on experience as a Mold Maker or Mold Technician, preferably in a rubber/plastic parts manufacturing environment.
  • Candidate must be willing to work at Kepong Baru.
