Job summary

A leading oil & gas firm in Malaysia seeks a Procurement Specialist with at least 5 years of experience. The role involves performing procurement functions, engaging with users, negotiating with bidders, and ensuring compliance with PETRONAS procedures. Candidates should have a Diploma in Engineering and familiarity with PCIS and Microsoft Office. Job description
Responsibilities and Requirements
  • The jobholder should have a Diploma or discipline preference in Engineering or its equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 year experience in the related field, preferably in the oil & gas industry.
  • Perform general procurement function involving tendering, evaluation, award recommendation & preparation of contractual documents.
  • Proactive and close interaction with end-users to strategize/plan on procurement requirements at tender plan stage.
  • Identify any potential issues that could impact procurement schedule, and highlight to Users with proposed remedial solutions.
  • Well‑versed with PETRONAS upstream procurement procedures, policies & guidelines to ensure full compliance in performing the procurement activities.
  • Computer literate must be experience in Project Procurement System i.e. PCIS and familiar with Microsoft Office software, Word, Excel, MAXIMO is advantage.
  • Knowledge of PETRONAS procurement policy and fluent in English, written and spoken.
  • Liaise with relevant authority, facilitate reviews including presentation to authority to secure timely approval of tender packages.
  • Develop expertise in various commodities/services. Keep abreast with market conditions that may affect services/price of materials. Analyze tender information and develop benchmark for comparison.
  • Continue to seek cost saving opportunities i.e. conduct negotiation with bidders when required.
  • Provide coaching to buyers.
