Job description

The IT Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering IT projects with a strong focus on Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and SAP (e.g., SAP S/4HANA, SAP ECC, SAP PP/MM/QM/PM) implementations. This role bridges business operations, manufacturing, and IT to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with business objectives.

The position requires close collaboration with manufacturing, quality, planning, finance, and external vendors to ensure successful system integration, data accuracy, and operational readiness.

Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Project Management & Delivery

Lead end-to-end IT project lifecycle including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure

Manage complex projects involving MES, SAP, shopfloor automation, system integration, and data interfaces

Define project scope, objectives, timelines, milestones, and deliverables

Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, risk registers, and budgets

Ensure projects are delivered within approved scope, timeline, and cost

MES & SAP Implementation

Manage MES projects covering areas such as:

  • Production tracking
  • Machine integration
  • Labor and machine time capture
  • Quality and traceability

Oversee SAP-related projects including:

  • SAP S/4HANA
  • SAP module enhancements (PP, MM, PM, FI/CO)
  • SAP–MES integration

Coordinate system integration testing (SIT), user acceptance testing (UAT), and production cutover

Stakeholder & Business Engagement

Act as the primary liaison between:

  • Manufacturing operations
  • Quality, Planning, and Finance teams
  • IT teams and external vendors/system integrators

Translate business and operational requirements into technical and functional specifications

Facilitate workshops, requirement-gathering sessions, and solution walkthroughs

Provide regular project updates to management and steering committees

Vendor & Third-Party Management

Manage system integrators, software vendors, and external consultants

Review and validate vendor deliverables, timelines, and invoices

Ensure vendors comply with company standards, security, and quality requirements

Risk, Quality & Governance

Identify project risks, dependencies, and mitigation plans

Ensure compliance with internal IT governance, security policies, and standards (e.g. ISO 27001, change management)

Functional specifications

Test plans and results

User manuals and SOPs

Change Management & Go-Live Support

Coordinate change management activities including user communication and training

Support go-live activities and post-implementation stabilization

Ensure smooth handover to operations and support teams

REQUIREMENTS / SKILLSET

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field

Minimum 5–8 years of experience in IT project management

Proven experience managing MES and SAP projects in a manufacturing environment

Strong understanding of:

  • Manufacturing processes
  • Production planning
  • Quality management
  • Shopfloor operations

Hands-on experience with:

  • SAP S/4HANA or SAP ECC
  • MES platforms and integrations

Solid knowledge of system integration, data accuracy, and transactional integrity

Preferred Certifications
  • PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification
  • SAP certification (any module)

Strong project management and organizational skills

Excellent stakeholder communication and presentation skills

Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities concurrently

Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities

Experience working with cross-functional and multicultural teams

Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced manufacturing environments
