The IT Manager will oversee the IT operation and IT infrastructure for Harvey Norman in Malaysia, aligning IT initiatives with business goals and supporting expansion efforts, particularly in ensuring tech‑readiness for new store launches. This role also ensures the effective delivery of IT services, security, support, and is pivotal in the strategic alignment with corporate objectives.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all IT Operations matters in Malaysia, offering expert consultation and guidance.
- Collaborate with IT teams across the HQ and regional offices to harmonize IT strategies and operations.
- Lead the IT Operation, Expansion, and Project Teams, ensuring effective supervision and technical support.
- Lead the effective and efficient delivery of local IT support in alignment with defined business requirements.
- Ensure the risk assessment of new solutions is carried out.
- Oversee, implement, and maintain the IT infrastructure efficiently, ensuring infrastructure is managed effectively, including lifecycle management, capacity planning, performance management, system availability, and reliability.
- Drive IT security assurance, lead third-party security risk assessment and management, and maintain IT Security of online and digital environments.
- Strategize IT blueprint for new store launches, ensuring technology setups align with projected timelines.
- Collaborate with design and operations teams to seamlessly integrate technology solutions.
- Evaluate, select, and manage IT vendors, ensuring quality and adherence to SLAs.
- Raise and control IT risks, manage IT controls adoption, ensure Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity plans and testing are current and accurate.
- Collaborate with the HQ IT team on company-wide security standards and ensure security standards compliance in Malaysia.
- Develop and manage the IT budget, ensuring projects are tracked within approved budgets.
- Oversee local IT projects, coordinating with other departments and ensuring delivery to business expectations of time, cost, and quality.
- Promote collaboration on all levels, manage internal and external stakeholder expectations, and serve as the lead escalation point for IT operations.
Qualifications
- Degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 7+ years of IT experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Ability to manage complex IT infrastructures and handle the unique challenges of retail expansions.
- Experience with retail industry IT challenges is a plus.
- Experience with Retail solutions (Point of Sales, Supply Chain, ERP, Warehouse, etc.).
- Intermediate knowledge of Cyber Security and Risk Management practices.
- Exceptional command of both spoken and written English.
- Strong leadership, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Experience collaborating with international teams.
