Job summary

An established company in Malaysia is seeking an IT Support Technician to provide first-line technical support for hardware, software, and network-related issues. The ideal candidate will possess a degree in Computer Studies or Information Technology, have 3 to 5 years of relevant experience, and be familiar with networking products. Strong analytical skills and proficiency in both English and Bahasa Malaysia are required. Willingness to travel to rural locations is essential.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Possess a Degree in Computer Studies/Information Technology or equivalent
  • At least 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar role or related field
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience in the following:
    • Familiarity with networking products such as HP, EnGenius, and Ubiquiti
    • Proficient in troubleshooting network issues, and installing and maintaining various types of network cabling
    • Supporting and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows OS (desktop), Windows Networking, Microsoft Windows Server, and Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization
    • Computer hardware assembly, troubleshooting and diagnosing issues with computer, laptop, and printer
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in both English and Bahasa Malaysia
  • Willingness to travel to rural locations
Requirements
  • Provide first-line technical support for hardware, software, and network-related issues, escalating unresolved issues to HQ when necessary
  • Manage and maintain software licenses and subscriptions, and keep an up-to-date inventory of IT fixed assets within the entire asset lifecycle
  • Document all support activities and maintain records of incidents in the Helpdesk system
  • Manage on-site IT stock, including computer spare parts, accessories, and peripherals
  • Conduct routine maintenance on servers and related infrastructure, ensuring server rooms and equipment are organized and secure. Coordinate with HQ for replacements or upgrades as needed
  • Oversee IT purchase requisition fulfillment, maintaining close coordination with HQ internal departments and external vendors
  • Manage internet service providers and any third-party vendors providing on-site IT services.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant HQ IT policies
  • Support projects driven by HQ
  • Test and evaluate new technologies to continuously improve IT operations and efficiency
