Roles and responsibilities:
- Provide Level 3 support for SDW IP/MPLS network infrastructure and services.
- Drive incident/problem management to meet or beat MTTR targets.
- Fine‑tune networks for optimal performance (L2/L3, QoS, baselining, capacity).
- Collaborate with principal TACs (Cisco TAC, Huawei TAC) for deep‑dive troubleshooting.
- Replicate issues in lab, validate fixes, and document outcomes.
- Operate and maintain SP‑grade edge/core routers and switches.
- Manage and evaluate global partners/vendors; report on performance.
- Own RCA, be prepared for 24/7 on‑call support, and act as escalation point.
- Anticipate bottlenecks, manage risks & escalations, and balance business vs technical trade‑offs.
- Support internal projects & presales with designs, migration plans, and reviews.
- Work with capacity planners to deliver efficient, cost‑effective topologies.
- Perform preventive maintenance to keep the network stable (and gloriously uneventful).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s in Computer Science/Engineering/IT (or equivalent experience).
- Industry certs: HCIP, CCNP, JNCIS/JNCIP (or higher).
- 3+ years hands‑on with JunOS / Cisco IOS / Huawei VRP and 5+ years in telecom.
- Deep protocol skills: BGP, OSPF, MPLS, RSVP, IS‑IS.
- Core knowledge: IP subnetting; routing (OSPF & EIGRP); L2 fundamentals; VLAN segmentation; STP/RSTP; first‑hop redundancy (VRRP/HSRP); ACLs; PBR; and strong network monitoring & troubleshooting.
- Firewalls (implementation/config/troubleshooting): Palo Alto, Fortinet, SonicWall, Check Point, etc.
- Wireless (implementation/config/troubleshooting): Aruba, Ruckus, Cisco Aironet, Meraki, Huawei AirEngine, WLAN controllers, etc.
- Bonus: Cisco ASR900x/ASR903 (IOS‑XR/XE) or Huawei NE40E, NE8000 experience.
- Familiarity with NMS tools (MRTG, SolarWinds, Grafana, Prtg, Kentic, Hamina).
- Fast learner, adaptable, curious; excellent communication and customer‑facing skills.
- Good customer experience including managing task queues and liaising with external vendors or Enterprise customers.
- Good communication skills.
- Willing to travel.
