Job description

Jacobs is looking for an Inspector of Works (Track works), to join one of our Double Track project. The successful candidate will work as an integrated member of the project team and be based on site in Selangor/Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

This role requires the successful candidate to:

  • Ensure that the Contractor’s work is supervised and carried out in accordance with the drawings and specifications.
  • Supervise activities on site.
  • Contact the RE when substandard works occur or variation is required.
  • Check day work records of the Contractor and keep daily site diaries.
  • Assist RE/ARE in taking measurements and other details as may be necessary for progress payments, variation orders, changes, etc.
  • Build a trusted relationship with the client and contractor’s project team.
  • Place an emphasis on safe working and a high quality of delivery.
  • Flag deviations when they occur; attend site meetings if required.

As a key member of the project team, you will be expected to:

  • Have experience working in a rail trackwork environment, either on construction/design projects, or in the maintenance and operation of a railway.
  • Have a working knowledge of design, installation, testing and commissioning of rail and transit assets.
  • Be able to interpret technical engineering drawings.
  • Be a team player and be flexible to the needs of the project.

The successful candidate is required to hold the following qualifications and accreditations:

  • Diploma or Certificate specializing in Engineering – Civil / Construction/Structural or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of professional experience working on rail (trackwork) projects.
  • Possess own transport.
  • Registration with Board of Engineers Malaysia (Inspector Works).
  • Be observant:
  • Get along well with others and be able to work with people at all levels.
  • Be objective and persuasive.
  • Be independent and self-reliant.
  • Be very responsible and have sound judgement.
  • Must have work right status for Malaysia.
