Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Johor Bahru is seeking a candidate for a two-year contract role to oversee mechanical and electrical works on-site. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in M&E project management, strong communication skills, and a relevant engineering diploma or degree. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with project specifications, conducting regular inspections, and preparing progress reports. Candidates familiar with high-rise properties and deep basement construction will be prioritized.

Job description

Overseetheday-to-dayM&Eworkson-sitetoensurecompliancewithprojectspecifications,drawings, andstandards.

Liaisewiththeprojectteam,includingengineers,architects,andcontractors,tofacilitatecommunicationand ensuresmoothoperationofM&Eworks.

Attend all necessary meetings related to construction progress, coordination, technical andmanagement.

Familiar with contract administration on construction and consultant implementation eg. PAM, PWD, IEM conditions of contract etc.;

Familiar with authorities’ liaison on project implementation for development;

Familiarity with tendering process and possess an analytical and business mind during recommendation and award;

Capable of providing value engineering input and alternative solutions to save time and cost;

Someone with critical and innovative thinking skills;

Familiar with using Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project and AutoCAD software.

Quality Control

Conductregular inspections and audits of M&E work to ensure quality control and adherence to safety regulations.

Review and approve M&E materials and equipment to ensure they meet project requirements and standards.

Keep accurate records of inspections, tests, and corrective actions.

Testing and Commissioning

Document all testing procedures and results, ensuring that they meet the acceptance criteria using standard testing form.

Coordinate with the commissioning team to address any deficiencies and verify resolution.

Reporting

Prepare and submit reports weekly on the progress and quality of M&E works to the Project Manager & Engineer in charge via Google Drive/email and facetoface if required.

Report any discrepancies, non-conformities, or potential delays in the M&E works to the relevant parties promptly.

To update site photo on M&E Progress via Shared Drive/Email / Group Text on daily basis.

Safety and Compliance

Ensure that all M&E works are carried out in a safe manner and in compliance with Occupational Safety and Health regulations.

Enforce the project's safety plan and participate in safety audits.

Documentation

Maintain comprehensive records of all M&E works, including as-built drawings, warranties, manuals, and maintenance instructions.

Ensure that all statutory approvals and certifications for M&E works are obtained and properly documented.

Handover

Assist in the preparation of the building's M&E operation and maintenance manuals. Ensure that all M&E installations are ready for handover to the client.

Participate in all final inspection and handover process, resolve purchaser’s complaints and assist in the finalization of the final account with the Contractor.

Period of Service

The COW/IOW will be engaged for two (2) years contract basis. Performance will be reviewed after two (2) years for option of transfer to another project or permanent basis.

Reporting Structure

The COW/IOW will be appointed by client and afterwards will be seconded his professional work liabilities to M&E Consultant. The COW/IOW need to report directly to the Principal / Resident Engineer of the M&E Consultant and to work closely with the Client’s Project Manager and M&E engineering team.

Requirements

A recognized diploma or degree (or equivalent) in mechanical or electrical engineering, building science or building technology or other related fields of study approved by LAM with minimum 5 years experience.

Registration as IOW with BEM

Work experience with M&E Consultant is an added advantage.

Having experience in high rise property with deep basement structures and infrastructure construction works, landscaping works and interior decoration (ID) etc will be prioritized.

Prefer to have candidate with short notice.

Proven success in managing and delivering complex construction projects on time and within budget.

Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations.

Excellent communication skills for efficient liaison with consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and staff at all levels

Demonstrated experience in building and developing a strong and successful team.

Effective problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.

Results-driven, proactive, and detail-oriented in construction quality.

Self-motivated, diligent and team player quality.

Good at technical knowledge.

To comply with Project Quality Compliance Plan (PQCP), applicable legal, best management practice and other requirement.
