Job summary

A leading engineering consultancy in Malaysia is seeking an Inspector of Works (IOW) to oversee construction projects. The role requires conducting inspections on pipelines and treatment plants, ensuring compliance with regulations, and liaising with various stakeholders. Candidates should hold a diploma in Civil Engineering and have 3-5 years of relevant experience. Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Project, and bilingual communication in English and Bahasa Malaysia is essential. This position provides opportunities within a professional setting.

Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years as an Inspector of Works (IOW) or similar role in the construction industry.
• Registered as an Inspector of Works with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) or Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia (LAM).
• Prefer experience in supervising water supply projects or infrastructure contracts.

🔺Job Description

• Location: Ampang and Selayang
• Conduct regular inspections on pipelines, reservoirs, pumping stations, and treatment plants to ensure all works comply with approved designs, specifications, and applicable regulations.
• Record site activities, monitor schedule adherence and project delays, and assist in preparing progress and interim payment claims.
• Liaise with contractors, consultants, water operator and utilities providers; advise on modifications to resolve issues encountered on site.
• Maintain detailed records (site diaries, inspection logs, memos), issue site non-compliance memos, and assist with claim verifications.
• Monitor contractor’s compliance with HSSE standards and report any unsafe practices observed.

• Diploma or Polytechnic certificate in Civil Engineering
• 3 to 5 years as an IOW or similar role in construction industry
• Prefer experience in supervising water supply projects or infrastructure contracts or any similar utilities projects
• Registered as an Inspector of Works with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) or Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia (LAM)
• Technical Skills: Familiar with AutoCAD, MS Project, Microsoft Office; understanding of water supply standards and regulatory frameworks.
• Communication: Proficient in English and Bahasa Malaysia; strong interpersonal skills to coordinate with stakeholders and prepare technical reports.
