Job summary

A leading engineering consultancy in Malaysia is seeking an Inspector-of-Work for Mechanical/Electrical tasks. This role involves performing on-site inspections, ensuring compliance with construction specifications, and maintaining quality assurance for M&E works. Candidates should have a relevant engineering diploma, be registered with BEM, and have at least 5 years of experience. The position requires effective communication and problem-solving skills, and familiarity with safety regulations is preferred.

Qualifications

Inspector-of-Work (Mechanical/Electrical)

The Opportunity

Perform on-site inspection work (mechanical or electrical) across multiple sites, ensure site work compliance with construction drawings, specifications, approved MoS, details and standards of building M&E practices and any other approval and/or instruction from consultants.

Responsible for quality assurance and quality control supervision for M&E work.

Familiar with all the relevant drawings and written instructions, using them as a reference when inspecting work.

Monitor and supervise work progress at site according to work schedule, prepare report on site progress and/or condition to superiors upon request.

Identify defect, NC and outstanding work, and any other problem encountered at site, issue Site Memo / NCR and propose mitigation solution together with consultants and Resident Engineer.

Liaise with contractors, consultants and Resident Engineer to resolve technical issues at site.

Attend all necessary meetings and report daily site activities upon request.

Ensure compliance on safety, health and environmental requirements at site.

Keep and maintain site documents, records, and reports, especially as per Company’s Quality Management System.

Implement all related policies, procedures and work instructions as so defined in the Company’s Quality Management System.

Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Superiors.

Is this role right for you?

Certificate or Diploma in electrical engineering for Inspector of Works (Electrical) and diploma in mechanical engineering for Inspector of Works (Mechanical) or equivalent.

Registered as Graduate Engineer (GE) or Inspector-Of-Works (IOW) with Board of Engineer Malaysia (BEM).

Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience as IoW (M&E) or in consultant/contractor.

High level of integrity and willing to work long hours.

Working knowledge on M&E installation & testing methods, materials, building component and system.

Ability to read and interpret architectural, M&E and landscape drawings, specifications and other material pertinent to construction.

Knowledge of building regulations, health & safety requirements. Preference to possess a valid Site Safety Supervisor (SSS) Competency License registered with DOSH / JKKP (Yellow book).

Able to liaise effectively with consultants, authorities, and contractors.

Able to write & communicate well.

Open to be based in one of our sites: Nilai, Cyberjaya or Bukit Jalil.
