Responsibility

Machine Setup and Preparation:

  • Prepare and set up injection moulding machines for production runs according to specifications provided.
  • Install and adjust moulds, dies, and other tooling components as required for each production job.
  • Configure machine parameters such as temperature, pressure, and injection speed to achieve optimal processing conditions.

Machine Operation and Monitoring:

  • Operate injection moulding machines to produce plastic components or products according to production schedules.
  • Monitor machine operation, observing for any abnormalities or deviations from expected performance.
  • Adjust machine settings as necessary during production to maintain product quality and consistency.

Material Handling and Processing:

  • Handle and prepare raw materials, such as plastic resins or pellets, for injection into the moulding machine.
  • Load materials into hoppers or feed systems and ensure proper feeding and distribution into the machine barrel.
  • Monitor material usage, replenish supplies as needed, and troubleshoot material feeding issues or jams.

Quality Control and Inspection:

  • Inspect produced parts for quality defects, such as surface imperfections, dimensional inaccuracies, or incomplete fills.
  • Use measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify part dimensions and tolerances.
  • Conduct visual inspections and perform quality checks according to established standards and procedures.

Tooling and Mould Maintenance:

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on moulds, dies, and tooling components to ensure proper functioning and longevity.
  • Clean and lubricate mould surfaces, replace worn or damaged components, and make minor repairs as needed.
  • Troubleshoot mould-related issues, such as sticking, flashing, or air traps, and implement corrective actions.

Troubleshooting and Problem Solving:

  • Identify and diagnose equipment malfunctions, process deviations, or quality issues affecting production.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic problems with injection moulding machines and auxiliary equipment.
  • Implement corrective actions and adjustments to resolve issues and minimize downtime.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  • Follow proper lockout/tagout procedures when performing maintenance or repairs on machinery.
  • Comply with all regulatory requirements and company policies related to equipment operation and workplace safety.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of production activities, including machine settings, material usage, and production quantities.
  • Document any maintenance or repair activities performed on injection moulding machines and associated equipment.
  • Report production issues, quality concerns, or safety incidents to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains in injection moulding operations.
  • Participate in problem-solving initiatives and suggest ideas for optimizing production processes.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality assurance, and production teams to implement improvements and best practices.

Training and Development:

  • Stay updated on advances in injection moulding technology, materials, and processes through training and professional development opportunities.
  • Share knowledge and expertise with colleagues, providing training and guidance as needed to support skill development and proficiency.

Supervision and Team Management:

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of the injection moulding team, including operators and technicians.
  • Assign tasks, schedule shifts, and ensure adequate staffing to meet production targets.
  • Provide guidance, training, and performance feedback to team members to ensure optimal performance.
