Overview
The In-Building Coverage (IBC) Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing indoor wireless coverage solutions (e.g., DAS, small cells, repeaters) to ensure seamless mobile connectivity within buildings (commercial, residential, and public venues). The role involves coordinating with telcos, property developers, and regulatory bodies to optimize network performance and compliance with Malaysian communications standards.
Responsibilities
- Project Management:
- Lead IBC projects from planning to execution, ensuring timely deployment within budget.
- Conduct site surveys and feasibility studies for indoor coverage solutions.
- Manage vendors, contractors, and stakeholders (MCMC, telcos, building owners).
- Technical Planning & Optimization:
- Design and optimize in-building wireless systems (DAS, 4G/5G small cells, Wi-Fi offloading).
- Perform RF propagation modeling and signal testing for optimal coverage.
- Ensure compliance with MCMC and SKMM regulations.
- Stakeholder Coordination:
- Liaise with mobile operators (Maxis, Celcom, Digi, U Mobile) for infrastructure sharing.
- Negotiate agreements with property developers for IBC installations.
- Performance Monitoring:
- Oversee network KPIs (signal strength, data throughput, call drop rates).
- Troubleshoot and resolve coverage issues in high-traffic venues (malls, airports, offices).
- Regulatory & Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
- Secure necessary permits for IBC deployments.
- Reporting & Documentation:
- Prepare project reports, technical documentation, and compliance records.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Experience: 5+ years in telecom network planning, RF optimization, or IBC projects.
- Familiarity with DAS, small cells, and fiber-based IBC solutions.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in RF tools (e.g., iBwave, Atoll, TEMS).
- Knowledge of 4G/LTE and 5G technologies.
- Soft Skills: Strong negotiation and stakeholder management.
- Languages: Fluent in English & Bahasa Malaysia; Mandarin is a plus.
- Certifications: PMP, CWNP, or MCMC-related certifications are advantageous.
Working Conditions
- Hybrid role (office + site visits).
