A leading manufacturing company in Malaysia is seeking a Human Resource Assistant Manager to oversee employee relations and industrial compliance. Responsibilities include handling grievances, managing relationships with labor offices, and supporting disciplinary actions. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of HR experience and a strong understanding of Malaysian labor laws. Excellent communication and analytical skills are essential for this role.
Assist in managing relationships with labor offices, and relevant authorities
Handle industrial disputes, grievances, and negotiations in accordance with labor laws
Prepare documentation for labor department cases, domestic inquiries, and hearings
Monitor compliance with employment legislation, industrial regulations, and statutory requirements
Support management in disciplinary proceedings and misconduct investigations
Employee Relations (ER)
Manage employee grievances, complaints, and conflict resolution cases
Advise managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, and employment practices
Assist in performance management, corrective actions, and counseling processes
Support employee engagement initiatives and workplace harmony programs
Ensure consistent application of company policies and fair treatment of employees
Administrative & Reporting
Maintain accurate records of IR/ER cases, disciplinary actions, and employee correspondence
Prepare reports, case summaries, and management updates
Support audits, inspections, and compliance reporting
Strong knowledge of industrial and employment laws
Good negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage sensitive and confidential matters
Analytical and problem-solving capabilities
Strong documentation and reporting skills
Professional experience and Qualifications:
At least 5 years of experience in an HR or industrial relations role, preferably within a manufacturing or similar industry
Thorough understanding of Malaysian labour laws, regulations and collective bargaining agreements
Excellent negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders
A bachelor’s degree in human resource management, Industrial Relations or a related field
Candidates with prior experience in the FMCG industry would be at an advantage for this position.
