A construction and environmental company in Kuching, Malaysia is seeking an experienced HSSE professional to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations on project sites. Responsibilities include site inspections, managing HSSE policies, and overseeing contractors' performance. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience and a degree in Occupational Safety & Health or a related field. Strong knowledge of industry standards and exceptional communication skills are essential for success in this role.

Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOSH, DOE, FMA, CIDB, BOMBA, and all project/site HSSE requirements.
Develop/assist in implementing HSSE policies, SOPs, PTW systems, safety procedures, and emergency response plans for project construction & operations
Conduct daily site inspections, identify hazards, and monitor high-risk activities.
Review contractors’ HIRARC, JSA, method statements, SWP, and PTW documentation.
Oversee and control overall site safety performance and ensure contractors’ HSSE plans meet project requirements.
Assist in environmental monitoring (air, water, noise, dust) and ensure compliance with DOE regulations.
Manage scheduled waste, waste segregation, spill prevention, and pollution control activities.
(Senior level) Lead full environmental management programmes and regulatory submissions to DOE.
Conduct site inductions, toolbox briefings, safety awareness sessions, and verify contractor HSSE compliance.
Report incidents or near misses, lead/assist in investigations, perform RCA, and follow up on CAPA actions.
Prepare HSSE reports, maintain documents, and support audits.
Oversee full ERP planning, fire safety programmes, and engagement with relevant authorities.
Establish/support HSSE requirements for commissioning and plant operational readiness, including ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 activities.
Provide guidance, and act as HSSE advisor to senior management and site teams.
Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or any related technical degree.
At least 5 years (8 years for Senior level) working in HSSE and/or environmental roles in construction, industrial plants, or manufacturing facilities.
Experience handling EIA compliance, DOE audits, environmental monitoring, SW management, and environmental reporting.
Strong knowledge of OSHA, DOSH, DOE, CIDB, EQA 1974, SW Regulations, and project HSSE standards.
Competent in environmental monitoring, SW management, PTW systems, HSSE reporting, and emergency response.
Strong communication, teamwork, documentation, and stakeholder coordination abilities.
