Job Purpose
Responsible for leading the procurement strategy, operations, and supplier relationship management to optimize cost, quality, and efficiency in support of the organisation's objectives.
Accountable for developing a strategic approach to the corporate procurement and material management process for the purchase, ensuring the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the process within the organization, develop and/or update procurement policies and procedures and to ensure alignment with organizational goals, compliance with regulations, and sustainability in procurement practices.
Key Accountabilities
- Develop and implement a full procurement strategy to support organizational objectives; including liaising with senior management to adapt to strategic objectives, carrying out business intelligence, identifying the needs of the various business units;
- Lead procurement planning, forecasting, and budgeting to optimize cost and value across the organization group;
- Responsible for the overall EBITDA and revenue performance of the Group, with accountability for cost optimization initiatives. This includes driving these efforts and providing guidance to the relevant stakeholders;
- Establish strategic partnerships with suppliers/vendors to ensure quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness;
- Manage tender process and get BOD approval;
- Forecast ongoing demand for goods and services, monitoring by milestones, implementing processes and tools;
- Conduct regular supplier performance reviews, negotiate contracts, and mitigate risks related to supply chain disruptions; including monitoring suppliers and procurement performance: drawing up specifications, defining key performance indicators;
- Stay updated on market trends, maintain an in-depth knowledge of industry developments and regulatory changes;
- Ensure ethical sourcing practices and compliance with Malaysian procurement regulations;
- Implement technology and data analytics to enhance procurement efficiency and transparency;
- Identify and manage procurement risks, ensuring compliance with company policies, government regulations, and international standards;
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, finance, and legal, to align procurement with organizational goals; and
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing procurement team, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability. This includes optimizing organization, recruiting new talent, leading, and identify the best training programme and industry certification for the team.
