Job description
Responsibilities
  • Work closely with Sunway Group of Hospitals’ Director of Nursing (DON) and Nurse Educators to identify training and educational needs of Nursing and Healthcare staff and develop systems to ensure that the skills and competencies of staff are developed to meet the needs of the service.
  • Formulate strategies and plans to address long‑term and short‑term projected development needs for existing and new staff.
  • Design, implement and evaluate orientation programs, educational programs and professional development programs to promote professional growth and advance clinical practice.
  • Visit chain of SHG hospitals to monitor, evaluate and maintain records and reports of training activities and program effectiveness.
  • Identify and develop clinical career pathways in terms of Clinical Nurse Specialists and Advanced Nurse Practitioner posts.
  • Use a variety of advocacy strategies to promote nursing education and practices.
  • Participate in other related activities and initiatives of the company to contribute to the constant growth and smooth‑running of the hospital.
  • Represent the hospital to stakeholders and other external parties (e.g. Colleges/Universities, hospitals, agencies, government organizations & NGOs) in order to foster collaborative relationships and opportunities.
  • Oversee continuing education opportunities and ensure that operational procedures and policies comply with federal and state guidelines for accredited nursing programs.
Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing or Nursing Education or related specialty required; Doctorate.
  • State Registered Nurse with Malaysia Nursing Board and a valid Annual Practicing Certificate.
  • Post‑basic certificate/Diploma for specific specialized areas.
  • 5 years teaching experience in a tertiary hospital or University/College of Nursing.
  • Possess management capabilities and leadership qualities.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of staff.
  • Knowledge of healthcare related Acts, regulations and accreditation standards.
  • Good level of IT literacy.
  • Able to handle multiple projects and support multiple systems.
