Job summary

A leading manufacturing firm in Malaysia seeks a safety and health manager to ensure compliance with safety regulations and implement health strategies. The role requires developing policies, conducting audits, and managing initiatives to enhance safety standards across the organization. Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in occupational safety & health, at least 6 years of experience, and strong knowledge of ISO45001 and OSHA regulations. Bilingual communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia are essential.

Job description

Ensuring the organization’s compliance with safety regulations at local, national and international levels (where applicable). This role required to develop and implement policies, conduct audits and manage safety related initiatives to reduce the impact to the organization.

Planning, developing and implementing safety & health strategies and policies throughout the organization.

Ensuring all the subsidiary units comply with relevant local laws and requirements.

Establishing and maintaining safety legal register for subsidiary units.

Provide technical advice and support to organization for safety & health strategies and policy implementation.

Main contact point for matters concerning the Department of Occupational Safety & Health (DOSH) and attend non-compliance cases.

Establishing Department of Occupational Safety & Health (DOSH) reporting framework and ensure the reporting been done in timely manner for all the subsidiary units.

Conduct internal training and raise awareness throughout the organization regarding regulatory compliance.

Conduct scheduled internal audits and inspections.

Propose appropriate mitigation plans or corrective actions to close all the safety & health gaps, findings or complaints.

Lead the subsidiary units to obtain ISO 45001 certification and assist the subsidiary units regarding customer/buyer audits.

To collect, review and maintain statistics on accidents, trainings, workplace inspection, and other relevant data that needed by regulatory body and the organization.

Prepare monthly performance to be presented to the top management.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety & health, or related fields;

6 years’ experience in managing safety & health matters in a manufacturing industry;

Strong knowledge on ISO45001 and possess relevant auditing skill;

Strong understanding and implementation of OSHA Act 1994 and other relevant regulatory requirements.

Green Book Holder from DOSH

Strong language skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia;

Good communication skills, both written and oral;

Self-starter, proactive, resourceful with strong problem-solving skills;

Willing to travel to multiple work locations throughout Malaysia.
