Job summary

A well-established retail and e-commerce company in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a detail-oriented Group Accountant to manage financial reporting and consolidation for the Group. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, along with relevant professional qualifications and 3 to 5 years of experience in financial consolidation. Strong analytical skills and proficiency in accounting software such as Monitor ERP and SAP B1 are essential. Candidates proficient in Mandarin, English, and Bahasa Malaysia are preferred.

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years in group financial consolidation, preferably in retail or FMCG.
  • Strong understanding of Malaysian tax regulations and IFRS.
  • Prior external audit experience is a strong advantage.

Job description

We are a well-established retail and e-commerce company that has been operating in Malaysia since 2016, specializing in apparel, bags, accessories, and related products. In line with our continued strategic growth and expansion, we are seeking competent, motivated, and customer-oriented individuals to join our team for the following position(s):

Group Accountant
Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review consolidated financial statements for the Group in compliance with IFRS/MFRS.
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial reporting, including public announcements.
  • Coordinate with finance teams across subsidiaries to ensure timely submission of financial statements, analyses, and supporting documentation.
  • Oversee intercompany transactions and reconciliation processes to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform comprehensive financial and ratio analyses of consolidated statements, providing performance commentary including P&L, balance sheet, and trend analysis.
  • Support and coordinate internal and external audit processes, ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements and timely provision of documentation.
  • Prepare and coordinate materials for AGMs, Board meetings, and committee meetings (ARC, NC, RC).
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in preparing Group’s budgets, financial forecasts, and variance analysis to support business planning and decision-making.
  • Governance, Risk Management & Process Improvement: Develop and maintain consistent accounting policies and strong financial controls to manage risks, ensure compliance with regulations, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness of financial operations.
  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with business unit leaders to drive financial performance and provide actionable insights and reports to senior management and the Board.
  • Cash Flow & Treasury Management: Oversee Group cash flow planning, ensure optimal liquidity, and develop strategies for effective working capital management.
  • Support corporate exercises such as mergers, acquisitions, or restructuring initiatives, including financial evaluation and analysis.
  • Liaise with auditors, company secretary, tax agents, banks, and regulatory authorities to ensure full statutory and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide financial guidance, contribute to strategic planning, and undertake ad-hoc projects, including process standardization and system enhancements within the Group reporting function, as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a recognized university; professional qualifications such as MIA, ACCA, CPA Australia, CIMA, or equivalent are preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years in a related field, with substantial experience in group financial consolidation, preferably in the retail or FMCG industry.
  • Prior external audit experience is a strong advantage.
  • Proficient in accounting systems such as Monitor ERP, SAP B1, or AutoCount, with the ability to monitor, troubleshoot, and improve system usage.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (e.g. formulas, pivot tables, charts) Microsoft Word and PowerPoint for reporting and presentations.
  • Solid understanding of Malaysian tax regulations (including the Income Tax Act 1967), MFRS, and IFRS.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in Mandarin, English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Proactive, independent, and detail-oriented, with the ability to perform under tight deadlines; demonstrates strong commitment, accountability, adaptability, and a continuous improvement mindset.
