A leading retail group is seeking a General Manager for their business in Papua New Guinea. Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute business strategies to achieve company objectives.
Oversee all business functions including Operations, Sales, Finance, HR, Procurement and Marketing.
Lead the senior management team and ensure alignment with company goals.
Monitor financial performance, budgets, cash flow and profitability.
Drive sales growth, market expansion and customer retention strategies.
Establish KPIs, performance targets and accountability.
Strengthen internal controls, policies, procedures and corporate governance.
Build strong relationships with key suppliers, partners and stakeholders.
Identify risks and opportunities and implement strategic improvements.
Manage change and drive innovation within the business as necessary.
Oversee risk management and compliance frameworks.
Foster a positive company culture and employee engagement.
Ensure customer satisfaction and experience are important priorities.
Collaborate with other departments for synergies and best practices.
Manage and mentor direct reports for growth and development.
Ensure company brand consistency across all retail operations.
Oversee inventory management, supply chain and logistics.
Drive digital transformation and e-commerce initiatives.
Foster relationships with local communities and authorities.
Report directly to Executive Director in charge.
Organize Board of Directors meetings when necessary.
Requirements
Minimum 8–10 years experience in senior management within retail/FMCG industry.
Proven track record managing multi-branch retail operations.
Strong commercial, leadership and strategic management skills.
Hands-on and results-driven leader.
Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
Fluent in spoken and written English and Mandarin.
Willing to be based and work in Papua New Guinea (PNG).
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or related field preferred.
