General Manager – Port Klang Office

We are looking for a brilliant General Manager to join our fast-growing Shipco Transport Malaysia, Port Klang office. The successful candidate will be the key member of our Malaysia management team. He/she is responsible to overseeing the daily operations of a business segment and department for Port Klang office, ensure strategic goals are met by setting operational policies, creating, and maintaining budgets, managing employees, and more.

This position reports to the Country Manager, Malaysia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement company policies along with Corporate/Regional Management, work closely with the local team members in executing planned strategies, educate and motivate staff to further enhance the quality of our products;
  • Take charge of the branch’s P&L, partake in commercial activities including, but not limited to, visiting new and existing customers, and participate in local industry-sponsored functions and community events;
  • Lead the branch’s daily operations and manage the team's performance to meet strategic targets.
Qualifications
  • Diploma or Degree in Transportation Management, International Business or a related study with more than 5 years prior hands‑on operational and/or commercial development experience required from a similar position.
  • Preferably from a NVOCC background, but a candidate with a freight forwarder background may also be considered.
  • Sound knowledge in all aspects of daily operations, customer service and documentation, pertaining to ocean export/import and airfreight.
  • Sound knowledge of managing transshipment of both international and jobs originating from SPRC.
  • Sound knowledge of all local and international governmental, customs, security, carrier and hazardous cargo regulations.
  • Experienced in staff training, supervision, motivation and retention.
  • Experienced with general accounting principles, able to formulate and analyze budgets, KPIs, rate guidelines and profit and loss statements.
